Agent sprawl

Agent sprawl is the uncontrolled growth of AI agents built across an organisation, often on low-code platforms, with no central record of who owns them, what they can access or who uses them.

Why it matters

Platforms like Microsoft Copilot Studio and Dust let any team build an agent in an afternoon. That is the point of them. But an agent is not a document: it can read data sources, call tools and act on someone's behalf, and it keeps doing so after the person who built it has moved on.

Sprawl shows up as agents shared with the whole company that nobody remembers creating, agents connected to sensitive data, and the same assistant built five times by five teams.

How Qastel handles it

Qastel lists every agent built on the agent platforms you connect, including how widely each one is shared, and governs them in the same inventory as the AI tools you buy.
