Manufacturing

AI governance for manufacturers.

Open AI to your teams without handing your formulations, designs and know-how to a model you do not control.

The rules that apply

Your know-how is your value. One paste can put it in someone else’s AI tool.

For a manufacturer, the most valuable data is rarely personal. It is formulations, process parameters, designs and supplier terms. A single copy and paste into a third-party AI tool is enough to move them outside your control.

  • Groupe Durieu, a family-owned maker of wood and metal protection products sold in more than 40 countries, uses Qastel to open AI to its teams while keeping its formulations protected.

Common scenarios

Three situations you will recognise, and how Qastel handles each.

  • Scenario 1

A formulation pasted into a personal AI account

Name your own content topic, such as chemical formulations, and Qastel recognises it by meaning rather than keywords; custom patterns catch product codes and project codenames. The browser extension also spots AI used on personal accounts. A policy can block the message or warn the person before it is sent.

  • Scenario 2

Engineers sharing source code with an AI assistant

A ready-made policy warns before source code is shared, recognising code by what it is rather than by keywords. It can run in monitoring first, so you see what it would catch before anyone is interrupted.

  • Scenario 3

Knowing which teams use which AI tools

Qastel shows how many people use AI, on which systems, and how much of that use your policies cover, department by department. That is the data you need to roll AI out with confidence rather than ban it.

Questions people ask.

Does Qastel store our formulations?

Prompt analysis is off by default and only an admin can turn it on. When it is on, prompt text is classified in memory and never stored: Qastel records the category it found, not the text.

Can our teams keep using AI?

Yes. That is the point. A new policy can run in monitoring first, recording what it would have done without changing anything. You choose whether it blocks, redacts, warns or only alerts once it is in Enforcing.
